Best of all, the prices are really decent and the quality is excellent! Everything I believe is made on site, including their butter, honey etc. The menu includes a selection of traditional and conventional bakes to tempt you over tea and a lovely variety of hot and cold lunch options, ranging from toasted sandwiches, to stews and soups, to salads and quiches. The atmosphere is serene and relaxed with a few customers and friendly little birds visiting your table. You sit outside, in the centre of the nursery under the dappled shade of gorgeous. We were so delighted to have been introduced to this spot! Just a hop away from Jhb North, this little nursery tucked away amongst farmland, is a real local gem. Until that time, I can at least enjoy the garden at Random. Sadly, I don't always have the best green thumb as I seldom plant my purchases in the right spot, but I know that the garden design service is there for the day I finally have the time to work on my teeny patch. I have bought some lovely plants and garden decor from Random Harvest. I haven't had an opportunity to stay in the cottages, but they look gorgeous. The staff are exceptionally knowledgeable and extremely helpful, while the special "gardeners' course" shows that upskilling is important to everyone at Random. The small shop has an array of interesting goodies and I found the emphasis on local talent, particularly heartening! There's always something interesting happening during public holidays and the little-ees have a sandpit and toys to keep them busy. The new lapa with its cosy heaters is a winner as we approach winter, while the dappled sunlight under the trees is perfect for warmer days. jam and other products, mostly from the farm itself are delicious and the prices are so reasonable, especially the "seniors special". Take some time to enjoy the birds or even join one of the early morning bird walks which are real value for money. I love the real country feel of this restaurant which is set in the middle of an indigenous nursery.
